Terrier Attacks Bathroom

This is what our Boston Terrier puppy did when we left her on her own all day in the bathroom—before we crated her full time. Please notice:

Her toenail scrub brush. It’s made of wood and was originally about 4″

long. Now it’s 2″ long and it looks like a beaver got it (note the pointy end).

The cap to her special $12 oatmeal shampoo. Of course, about 90% of the

bottle went down the drain.

Her detachable shower head. She plain chewed it right in half.

I'm just perplexed as to why anyone would lock a dog in a bathroom all day and not see this coming. At least put stuff in a cabinet or drawer, or high out of reach where she can't get to it if you don't have a crate for some reason. Dogs, like people and kids, get bored. Give them appropriate toys to keep them busy, and don't let them have unsupervised access to shit they can ruin (that you'll actually be upset about, or that could hurt them). $12 bottle of shampoo…

PLEASE tell my you don't keep your terrier locked in a metal cage all day long!!! How cruel is that? How would YOU feel if YOU were locked up in a tiny, tiny cage with no bathroom all day long?!?

Right, because keeping them locked in a bathroom is so much better, especially if there are toxic or dangerous things for them to eat/chew on when they get bored. Boy, how presumptuous of you. No, I take my dog with me to work and for frequent walks. Dogs (not puppies) can handle sleeping in a crate for about 8 hours. It's reasonable to crate them when they'll be sleeping, e.g. at night when you're asleep, and at times during the day if necessary (if you're out for an hour or two and need to leave them home by themselves, for instance). Puppies need much more frequent potty breaks, about every 3-4 hours, which means, yes, middle of the night walks until they're able to hold it through the night.
