Oh! Christmas Tree!

Last Christmas, our cat decided the Christmas tree was her personal Everest and decided to scale it. Cat 1, Tree 0.

I always kept a rubber band gun handy- those kitties sure learned quick to stay outta MY tree!

My dog did this to my christmas tree once. Broke every glass ornament on it. Good times.

Cowboy (Mom's dog) was banned from the house after he lifted his leg in the general direction of the 2009 Christmas tree. I suppose he thought, “How kind — how thoughtful — what a great house. I don't even have to go out back to the loo.”

lol….my 2 cats did this a few years in a row…then I wised up…you have to take a piece of twine or string strong enough to hold the tree and tack one nail/tack into the wall….bring twine around the trunk of the tree…about 2/3's up from the bottom, and then nail/tack the other end to the wall as well. This will hold the tree up, despite the climbing cat…..can't do much for the balls you'll lose though…..hahaha….try a lot of plastic ornaments towards the bottom of the tree…and hang the good ones high up, where they're less likely to be disturbed by wandering cats.

With 6 tree climbers in the house I have taken to roping my tree to the air conditioner vent. Held better than tacking to the wall. Take one end of the rope thread through the vent on wall and then loop around tree a couple of time tie ends together and viola no problems with tipping trees.

I started putting plastic decorations on hte bottom of the tree. At least they have to work for it.

We had a tree go down one year as well. I came home from the nail salon to find the dog (a miniature schnauzer) quivering in the corner. Of course, we don't know if she ran into it trying to get to the door when the mail came or if she was trying to drink out of the place where she saw me put the water in. Only the dog knows for sure!
